The design of the booth had in mind from the start an intention to create open zones where meetings and demonstrations could happen in conjunction with each other; giving enough space for intimate conversation but creating an energy of activity and excitement across the floor.” On the Sunday night the SCTE took this year’s bursary winners out for dinner, an SCTE tradition; it was great to host our good friends Natalia Awodeji and Behar Jashanica and find out about their visit, their objectives and achievements, and hear all their news. At our most recent Annual General Meeting on October 13 taking place at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham, wewere sorry to see our Treasurer, LesHampson step down. Les steered us through three tumultuous years in this role, keeping a close eye on our finances during the pandemic. It was a challenging time, and we are very grateful for his guidance, advice and incredible attention to detail that the role, an entirely voluntary one, required. Les also spent 20 years serving as a director of the CAI before that, latterly as its chair. He told the AGM: “I have decided to resign my position and let the younger members of the society have a chance. They are, after all, our future. I must though, thank the rest of the finance committee, especially Bev, for all their hard work and I leave you in safe hands.” Thank you Les, and all the best for your retirement.
