A new move

The November 2020 issue of the Society’s journal, “Broadband”, will be the last issue to be edited by our managing editor, Sara Waddington. She has decided to take up new challenges after working with the SCTE for the past twelve years.

The SCTE Benelux online lecture is part of IBC Showcase

benelux logo 2019The SCTE Benelux online lunch lecture in September is now part of the IBC Showcase, and will now take place on Thursday 10 September 2020. Held from 12:00 to 13:00 CET, it will feature two speakers on ‘5G and extended HFC: the fibre challengers’. The speakers are Anne van Otterlo, Account CTO, Nokia on ‘5G opportunities in Video and Gaming’, and Toon Norp, Senior Business Consultant, TNO on ‘The role of 5G for Fixed Broadband Access’. Afterwards, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.

IBC cancels event in Amsterdam

The IBC team has been focused on assessing and developing appropriate plans for IBC2020 (11-14 September 2020)  at the RAI Amsterdam. Its priority has been the delivery of ‘a safe and successful environment’. However, as governments announce the route forward, IBC told the SCTE, ‘it has become clear that a return to (a new) normal is unlikely to be achieved by September’.

IBC launches Virtual Showcase

IBC has unveiled plans for IBC Showcase, a virtual event that is set to take place from 8-11 September 2020 and will feature three core components: an Exhibitor Showcase, a sponsored programme of presentations and discussions and comprehensive coverage of product launches via the online IBC Daily News site.

Free DOCSIS 3.1 training from the SCTE

To celebrate the SCTE’s 75th anniversary, a special edition of the SCTE’s Introduction to DOCSIS 3.1 LMS Course has been made available to all SCTE members.
