New appointments to the SCTE (Society for Broadband Professionals) were recently confirmed at the SCTE’s November Executive meeting in Watford, UK. The Society is pleased to welcome Christopher Bailey as its new President, with Mike Jones continuing in his role as Vice President of the Society.
The Society for Broadband Professionals and the International Society of Broadband Experts (ISBE), known in the United States as the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, providing a framework for continuing and future cooperation that will enhance both organisations’ value to the international cable community.
One of the major drivers for 'Digital India' will be increasing the cable and broadband skills of the Digital India workforce. Taking a leaf from international test practices in Europe and the USA, set-top box and CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) device manufacturer, Kalpin, and SCTETM India have entered into an agreement whereby all of Kalpin’s technology personnel will hold SCTE certification. Kalpin has also undertaken to extend this requirement to all its partner operators.
The Society for Broadband Professionals (SCTE) and The International Society for Broadband Experts (ISBE) today announced that SCTE input is being integrated for the first time into an existing ISBE course, enabling the two organisations to maximise their combined capabilities to create an enhanced educational opportunity for the cable broadband industry.
ISBE, the international arm of the US-based Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, is integrating input from the UK-based SCTE (Society for Broadband Professionals) in the next release of its DOCSIS 3.1 Installation course, which the SCTE will then promote as part of its international portfolio of training. Discussions are underway for other cooperative ventures, including the ability of each society to endorse the others’ training courses and final certification.
Don’t miss the SCTE Autumn Lecture and AGM on 4 October 2017 in the new venue of One Great George Street, 1 Great George Street, Westminster, London SW1P 3AA. This year’s event will be centred on 5G developments, 4K, UHD, wireless technologies and Virtual Reality. It will also feature a panel discussion on “Last Mile Delivery to the Home”.
