Key Balkan operators to present at SCTE’s Balkan Broadband Conference and Exhibition in Croatia in October

Zagreb in Croatia is to be the location of the SCTETM (Society for Broadband Professionals) 2013 Balkan Broadband conference and exhibition on 3 October 2013. The event is set to take place at the Westin Zagreb and will include a morning conference with Keynote presentations from government officials and key Balkan cable operators on broadband operations and strategy. The event is free for SCTE members to attend.

SCTE launches Virgin Media Taster Training Days

The SCTE has planned a “Virgin Media Taster Training Day” series and would like to invite you to join us and support this initiative. The training days are planned for 14 May 2013 at Virgin Media (VM) Hook, 15 May 2013 at VM Birmingham Eagle Court and 16 May 2013 at VM Bradford. The SCTE believes these training days will provide vendors with a new opportunity to engage with VM technicians and engineers in a friendly and professional setting.

SCTE and ANGA COM Announce 2013 Bursary Winners

Twenty Bursary Winners to attend ANGA COM in Cologne Free of Charge

 

The SCTETM (Society for Broadband Professionals) and ANGA (The Association of German Cable Operators) will be sending twenty lucky winners of the SCTE/ANGA bursaries to this year’s ANGA COM conference and exhibition. The bursary winners are mainly chosen from various international cable operators (such as Virgin Media, IPKO and others). They will each receive a package that includes pre-paid flights and hotel accommodation for three nights (courtesy of the SCTE) and entrance to the full conference offering (courtesy of ANGA). Bursary winners must be members of the SCTE.

SCTE HIGHLIGHTS NEW BROADBAND CHALLENGES IN ITS SPRING LECTURE MEETING

The advent of IPTV, VoIP and peer-to-peer have heralded many new challenges for the cable industry. The European cable industry is pushing ahead with higher-speed broadband, Voice over IP, VOD, TV-on-demand, PVR and HDTV. Today’s cable professional needs to be aware of a range of different issues such as standards, installation, distribution, cost, service differentiation and network monitoring challenges.
