SCTE VIAVI Solutions Webinar now live
The SCTE (Society for Broadband Professionals) is continuing its successful Webinar Series by publishing a webinar from its latest partnership with Corporate Member and network test and assurance market leader VIAVI Solutions.
The webinar, entitled “Enabling High-Fibre Count Cable Deployment”, focuses on mass fibre cabling technology, installation best practices, and how smarter testing delivers improved efficiencies during network build and acceptance to ensure you get the job done right, first time.
In a break from webinars in the past, this webinar consists of a panellist-style discussion featuring expert speakers from both VIAVI and Corning Incorporated, one of the world's leading innovators in materials science and optical communications. This combination of expertise provide attendees with a very rounded, informative presentation.
The panel is moderated by James Harwood of the SCTE Executive Committee, Tom Ronan, VIAVI Director Regional Product Line Management also feature on the panel as does Charlene Roux, VIAVI Senior Product Line Manager and Roshene McCool, Corning Senior Market and Technology Development Manager.
The webinar examines how high-fibre-count cables could be a key enabler for lowering the cost and increasing the speed of rollouts. The panel compares the differences with traditional fibre cabling technologies and how these cabling technologies have evolved. Multi-fibre technology has also enabled high fibre count cabling in smaller footprint to enable more fibre to be deployed deeper into the network.
The session also looks at connecting high fibre counts into existing infrastructure or for new fibre delivery, and the implications and potential issues including potential fibre mismatches.
The panel also explores the deployment phase and evaluate how these solutions can help increase installer efficiency for installation and testing. In addition, they will discuss smarter testing for commissioning these networks and how to become more efficient in the data collection, audit, and be fully ready for service acceptance.
Ross Stoddart, VIAVI EMEA Fibre Marketing Manager said, “Working with the SCTE on this initiative ticks all the boxes for us – we feel it’s a vital part of the ongoing conversation we are having with industry partners as the fibre roll out continues, and education and information in this ground-breaking area is key to its success.”
Anthony Basham, President of the SCTE commented, “VIAVI are always great to work with – we expect nothing less than a slick and polished afternoon. Corning on the panel is a prime example of how effective cross-pollination can be in something as precise and important as the fibre roll out.”
Anthony added, “The agnostic nature of the SCTE means that we can provide the platform for our members to raise their profiles and engage in debate without any kind of partisan involvement, in keeping with our mission to raise standards and educate the industry.”
