SCTE welcomes new appointments
New appointments to the SCTE (Society for Broadband Professionals) were recently confirmed at the SCTE’s November Executive meeting in Watford, UK. The Society is pleased to welcome Christopher Bailey as its new President, with Mike Jones continuing in his role as Vice President of the Society.
Chris joined the SCTE as a member over twenty-five years ago, later becoming a Fellow. In 2015, he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Society. For the past sixteen years, Chris has served continuously as an Executive Committee member of the SCTE and has chaired and vice-chaired several SCTE sub-committees, assisted with proof-reading SCTE training courses, initiated and supported the Virgin Media Taster Training Days and backed the evolution and delivery of the first SCTE ‘Meet the Industry’ Day at the University of Bradford. He is currently regional sales manager for PPC Broadband Europe - A Belden Brand.
“We welcome Chris as SCTE’s new President and would like to thank Mike Thornton, the SCTE’s outgoing President, for his tireless efforts on behalf of the Society over the past two years – he will remain on the SCTE Executive Committee and focus on SCTE training activities,” added Dr. Roger Blakeway, CEO and Past President, SCTE.
New Executive Committee members, voted in at the SCTE AGM in October, are Natalia Awodeji (Virgin Media) and Anthony Basham. Paul Broadhurst and James Harwood were also co-opted for the current year. The SCTE would also like to thank all outgoing members of the Executive Committee for their contributions to the Society.
