Book now for SCTE Summer Lecture and Driving Experience

flagSCTE (Society for Broadband Professionals) will be holding its 2012 summer lecture meeting at Mercedes-Benz World on Thursday 5 July. It will encompass a morning lecture programme and an afternoon of driving experiences plus a tour of Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge, Surrey (UK).

Brooklands is celebrated as the birthplace of British motorsport with pioneering race meetings held there since 1907. Evocative sections of the original track still survive alongside its new and unique purpose-built Handling Circuits. Mercedes-Benz World houses historic cars such as the Gullwing giving an insight into the making of a legacy.

The morning will start with a half-day SCTE lecture programme (details to be confirmed shortly) in the MBW theatre and, following a leisurely buffet lunch, the fun part begins….. Guests will be split into three groups to sample the delights that Brooklands has to offer and, during the afternoon, the groups will rotate.

The first group will start with the Mercedes-Benz Driving Experience where you’ll experience the Wet Skid Circle, the Handling Circuits or the Wet Straight. The second group will set off on a 4x4 Driving Experience exploring Brooklands’ 10-acre off-road course encountering a range of driving challenges from steep slopes, water-crossings and axle-twisting obstacles. The third group will be taken on a 60-minute tour of Mercedes-Benz World – a unique journey through the history of the car, from the first ever three-wheeled “Motorwagen” patented by Carl Benz, through to its collection of modern Formula 1TM racing cars.

Places are limited on this occasion to SCTE members, so please don’t delay in making your booking otherwise you may be disappointed. Whilst the SCTE is heavily subsidising this event, due to the high costs particularly of the afternoon’s activities, we are asking every SCTE member who wishes to be included in the driving experiences to pay a non-refundable fee of £50. This fee must be made at the time of booking in order to confirm your place.

However, if you just want to come to enjoy the lecture meeting, lunch and tour, then there is a nominal charge of £20 (but places are still limited).
