Balkan Broadband Conference and Exhibition
SCTE’s 2012 Balkan Broadband Conference and Exhibition will be held in the Hotel Continental, Belgrade (Serbia) on 29 March 2012. The hotel is easily accessible, just 15 minutes from Nikola Tesla international airport. Support has been given by the Serbian Cable Operator Association which was established in 2002 and now has over 45 members. The exhibition is now fully booked.
There will be a number of technical presentations from speakers at the conference such as the CEO and founder (Tibor Blogh) of the Hungarian company, Holografika KFT, who will address the audience on how his 3DTV system works without using 3D glasses. A boat trip on the Dona river, arranged by PUKOS, will follow the closing of the exhibition.
The SCTE’s fourth Balkan Broadband Conference offers top-level Keynote speakers and exhibition floors where investors, operators, technicians and installers ‘Meet & Greet’ the international exhibitors. Every year, the SCTE organises the Balkan Broadband Conference and Exhibition. Last year’s event was held in Skopje, Macedonia, with support from high-level sponsors. SCTE training courses have achieved wide acceptance as the standard for young technicians wishing to enter the field of cable telecommunications and for those wishing to advance their knowledge and career prospects. They are used in-house by a number of operating companies and SCTE engineers can be found working in a variety of international organisations. SCTE training courses in the Balkans have netted the Society many new members and a reputation as a leading broadband trainer in the region.
The Western Balkan market is one of the most exciting emerging markets in Central Europe: more than 25 million closely-linked inhabitants in various countries. The broadband market in many of these countries is rapidly moving forward as consolidation has started. These markets are supported by well-known players.
Founded in 1945, the SCTE is a Learned Society and non-profit making organisation whose aim is to raise the standard of global broadband engineering in the telecommunications industry. The Society particularly concerns itself with the training and career advancement of technical professionals worldwide. As a Learned Society, SCTE is able to provide accreditation and certification for its members, giving them professional standing within the industry.
SCTE also regularly runs a series of industry achievement awards for the broadband industry. These celebrate individual and company success in the broadband arena. The Society regularly awards bursaries to those who might benefit from attending specific trade shows or conferences in the broadband industry. The Society chairs the British Standards Committee for cable systems and represents the UK at European (CENELEC) and world (IEC) levels.
