Shortlist confirmed for 2012 SCTE Technological Innovation Awards

The SCTE (Society for Broadband Professionals) has confirmed the shortlist for its prestigious 2012 Awards for Technological Innovation. The winners will be announced at its annual Gala Dinner on Saturday 17 March 2012 at Woburn Abbey, Bedfordshire.

The awards, open to the entire broadband industry, are for technological innovation in the broadband arena and may be for a product, system or concept. The item nominated must have been introduced into the marketplace between 1 January 2011 and 31 December 2011. The shortlisted companies/products in the three separate award categories are:-

 

  • ‘Best broadband network transmission solution’ shortlist

Aurora:                         Universal Digital Return Platform

Edgware:          Convoy Video Delivery Network

Net Insight:       Service Aware Media Network

 

  • ‘Best digital processing solution’ shortlist

Harmonic Inc.:   Pro Media Suite

Envivio:            HaloTM Network Media Processor

ARRIS:             Media Services Platform

  • ‘Best CPE solution’ shortlist

UPC:                            Orion Webbox

Bridge Technologies:     microC™ Viewer-Device Monitoring

The best overall submission will receive the SCTE 2012 Technological Innovation of the Year Award. The 2011 winner of the best overall submission was Harmonic Inc for its NSG 9000 HectoQAM.

Founded in 1945, the SCTE is a Learned Society and non-profit making organisation whose aim is to raise the standard of broadband engineering in the telecommunications industry. The Society particularly concerns itself with the training and career advancement of technical professionals in the field.
