SCTE is Silver Level Industry Partner at SMPTE Forum on Emerging Media Technologies

The Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE), the worldwide leader in motion-imaging standards and education, has confirmed that the Society for Broadband Professionals (SCTE), a leading worldwide organisation dedicated to the training and career advancement of broadband professionals, will serve as a Silver Level Industry Partner for the SMPTE Forum on Emerging Media Technologies, an executive-level symposium to be held by the Society from 13-15 May at the Intercontinental Hotel, Geneva, Switzerland and produced in collaboration with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

At a time when IP-based video consumption and delivery are accelerating rapidly, the SCTE educates and advances the careers of front-line broadband technicians as they continue the build out of modern telecommunications networks to handle the worldwide digital convergence. The Society also chairs the British Standards Committee for Cable Systems and represents the UK at European (CENELEC) and world (IEC) levels.

The SMPTE Forum on Emerging Media technologies brings together leading motion-imaging technologists, researchers, scientists, practitioners, manufacturers, and strategic thinkers. Over the course of two days, it will provide a science-based, non-commercial opportunity for executives and other senior leaders from the broadcast, broadband, and cinema industries to discuss the most important and innovative research taking place over the next 10 to 15 years, with a particular focus on technologies likely to come to market within the next three years.
