Deadline Extended for SCTE Technological Innovation Awards

The SCTE (Society for Broadband Professionals) has extended the nomination deadline for its prestigious 2011 Awards for Technological Innovation to 20 February 2011. The awards will be presented during its Gala Dinner to be held on Saturday 2 April 2011 at Hatfield House, Herts.

Traditionally, the prestigious SCTE Technological Innovation Awards have been only been awarded to Corporate Members of the Society but, as a result of the exceptional interest raised, it has decided to open the awards to the whole Broadband Industry.

The awards are for technological innovation in the broadband arena and may be for a product, system or concept. The item nominated must have been introduced into the marketplace between 1 January 2010 and 31 December 2010.

Awards will be given in three separate categories:

  • Best broadband network transmission solution
  • Best CPE solution
  • Best digital processing solution.

In addition, the best overall submission will receive the:

  • SCTE 2011 Technological Innovation of the Year Award.

Previous winners of the Technological Innovation of the Year Award are RGB Networks for its Video Multiprocessing Gateway and Ineoquest Technologies Inc. for its VeriFrame product.

Nomination forms are available from the SCTE office or via the SCTE website. Entries, accompanied by the token £100 entry fee, must reach the SCTE no later than 20 February 2011. Judging will be by an independent panel of industry experts and shortlisted entries will be announced in February 2011.

Founded in 1945, the SCTE is a Learned Society and non-profit making organisation whose aim is to raise the standard of broadband engineering in the telecommunications industry. The Society particularly concerns itself with the training and career advancement of technical professionals in the field.

Award nominations can also now be submitted online.
