The SCTE (Society for Broadband Professionals) is a Learned Society whose aim is to raise the standard of broadband engineering in the telecommunications industry. The Society provides a forum for the exchange of technical information and experience through formal publications and lectures as well as social interaction between members. It particularly concerns itself with the training and career advancement of technical professionals in this field. As a Learned Society, SCTE is able to provide broadband industry accreditation and certification for its members, giving them professional standing within the industry.

Cable Center Entrepreneurship Bursary

The SCTE is proud to present two new training bursaries for its members, in conjunction with The Cable Center in the USA, for its new future-focused leadership programme and entrepreneurship academy (TCC-IA). This nine-week life skills programme is specifically aimed at rising stars in the cable industry and will educate and empower industry ‘up and comers’ to be more entrepreneurial with projects and become ‘intrapreneurs’ (envisioning and effecting innovation in their organisation’s corporate structure).

This award includes travel to the Cable Center’s headquarters in Denver (USA) for the initial week’s session followed by online self-study (with chat groups) and a final trip to Denver for graduation. Bursary candidates are expected to actively blog about their experiences during the course and include a report for SCTE’s Broadband Journal and The Cable Center. The Cable Center will underwrite the cost of the course and SCTE will pay for travel and accommodation in the USA.

DVB World Bursary

SCTE is offering members, who would not otherwise be able to attend, the opportunity to apply for two new 2019 bursaries for the DVB World 2019 conference and exhibition in Dublin, Ireland from 12-13 March 2019. SCTE is giving away two places – each bursary package includes full conference registration, economy flights from anywhere in Europe and two nights’ hotel accommodation in Dublin. Each package is worth between £1500 - £2000.
