SCTE™, the Society for Broadband Professionals, has announced that its annual Spring Lecture meeting will take place on 3 April 2014 in the Eleanor Davies-Colley lecture theatre at the Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) in London. This year's Spring Lecture will feature presentations covering a diverse range of topics, which will be available for download by SCTE members from the SCTE website (www.thescte.eu) after the event.

Presentation topics at the SCTE Spring Lecture will include:

  • Software-Defined Video in the Era of Ultra HD.
  • Transitioning the HFC Network Towards a Higher Return Split.
  • Wi-Fi - The WLAN 802.11ac Standard: How Did We Get Here & What Does It Do For Us?
  • Cable Networks – The Next Ten Years.
  • Practicalities of EMC Testing.

A key highlight at the event will be a panel discussion on Fibre Versus Coax: Access Architectures. The panel discussion will be open to audience questions and moderated by Julian Clover, editorial director at Broadband TV News. The Spring Lecture meeting will conclude with a networking cocktail party for all attendees — members and non-members.

Dr. Roger Blakeway, SCTE President, added: “The Spring Lecture is part of our regular series of lecture meetings across the globe, in which we aim to update and inform our members and the industry in general about the trends and developments that will affect our lives, both as individuals and in our working environment. I am delighted that we have been able to create such an interesting and thought-provoking programme to offer at the RCS.”
