SCTE Benelux Lecture Focuses on 4G LTE

SCTE’s Benelux Group has confirmed that the theme of the next Benelux lecture, to be held on 11 September at the RAI Exhibition Centre in Amsterdam during the IBC exhibition, will be 4G LTE and what it will deliver for Europe.

The need for greater capacity for mobile services has resulted in a move to 4G LTE. In addition to the greater efficiency of LTE, extra bandwidth is also required to keep up with the increasing demand for services now being placed on the mobile operators. The extra bandwidth that has been allocated is in the spectrum that has traditionally been used by the terrestrial television broadcasters and cable operators. As the services are rolled out, cable operators and domestic installers need to be ready for the problems and the business opportunities that will arise. The Benelux lecture speakers, listed below, will discuss many aspects of these important topics.

  • “LTE Broadcast” by Thorsten Lohmar, Senior Specialist Video Delivery, Ericsson
  • “Living with LTE” by Chris Swires, Managing Director, Swires Research
  • “Impact of LTE on the In-Home Installation” by Martien Rijssemus, Director of Research and Technology, Technetix
  • “LTE and WiFi put Cable Operators in the Driving Seat” by Hans van Elsen, CTO, Alcadis ISP Solutions.

You don’t have to be a SCTE member to participate in this free “Value Added” session – simply register with the SCTE Benelux Secretary, Rien Baan using the online booking form. Further details of the event can also be found on the flyer.

Presented papers will be available for members to download from the SCTE website (www.thescte.eu) after the event.
