Information: Eur. Ing. David Woollard BSc(Eng), CEng, MIEE studied Electrical Engineering at London University, graduating in 1968. After several years with STC as a Development Engineer, he joined Belling-Lee in 1971 designing MATV and CATV equipment. From 1973 to 1985, he was employed by Rediffusion first as a Project Engineer and then on CATV at Rediffusion Research, where he eventually became Head of the CATV section. The following years between 1985 and 1988 were spent as Technical Director with Bytex International involved with pay television for hotels.

Between 1988 and 1992, he was employed by ACT Cablestream as a consultant designing large local area networks. After ACT, David joined Encom, which became Cable & Wireless Communications Plc and eventually ntl, where he was involved in Network Engineering with special responsibility for the design of the CATV network. In January 2002, David became a manager with Accenture/Imagine Broadband, a leading engineering and consultancy company, involved with the design and implementation of interactive digital television/broadband platforms and networks.

David has served on BSI and CCA working groups and is currently the convener of CENELEC/TC209/WG6 which is involved with the CATV return path. He was involved with the creation of the European variant of the DOCSIS standard (EuroDOCSIS) and is involved with a number of international working groups. He is currently a consultant.
