Awards and Bursaries

SCTE regularly runs a series of industry achievement awards for the broadband industry. These celebrate individual and company success in the broadband arena. Most of the awards are given out at every SCTE annual dinner.

The SCTE also regularly awards bursaries to those who might benefit from attending specific trade shows or conferences in the broadband industry. It currently offers two IBC Bursaries annually (covering travel, hotel cost for four nights and a full conference registration for the IBC Amsterdam convention between 6th-11th September).  The awards are worth around £2000. Please complete our standard contact form if you would like to nominate a bursary recipient.


Individual Awards

Technician of the Year

The Society will give out its individual SCTE Achievement Awards at its annual dinner (to be held this year on 23 March 2013 at Drapers’ Hall in London, UK). The award for SCTE Technician of the Year 2012 was given to Ian Venn of Virgin Media.

The Richard Harris Member of the Year award

The Society will give out its individual SCTE Achievement Awards at its annual dinner (to be held this year on 23 March 2013 at Drapers’ Hall in London, UK). The 2012 Richard Harris Member of the Year award went to Paul Smith of Virgin Media.

The Tom Hall Award 

The Society will give out its individual SCTE Achievement Awards at its annual dinner (to be held this year on 23 March 2013 at Drapers’ Hall in London, UK). The 2012 Tom Hall award for Outstanding Services to Broadband Engineering was awarded to past CAI Chairman and Honorary Fellow of the SCTE, David Hodges. 

Honorary Fellowships to the Society

(For individuals who have made a significant contribution to both the broadband industry and to the Society)

The Society will give out its individual SCTE Achievement Awards at its annual dinner (to be held this year on 23 March 2013 at Drapers’ Hall in London, UK).  Honorary Fellowships of the Society were presented to Jos Huizer of HMConsult and Martien Rijssemus of Technetix.

NOMINATE ONLINE FOR THE INDIVIDUAL AWARDS

Technological Innovation Awards

The Technological Innovation awards for companies in the broadband industry, open to the entire broadband industry, are for technological innovation in the broadband arena and may be for a product, system or concept. The three award categories are:-

‘Best broadband network transmission solution’

The Society will give out its individual SCTE Technology Innovation Awards at its annual dinner (to be held this year on 23 March 2013 at Drapers’ Hall in London, UK). The 2012  winners and runners up for ‘Best broadband network transmission solution’  were:-

Winner: Net Insight - Service Aware Media Network

Runner up: Aurora Networks - Universal Digital Return Platform.

‘Best CPE solution’

The Society will give out its individual SCTE Technology Innovation Awards at its annual dinner (to be held this year on 23 March 2013 at Drapers’ Hall in London, UK). The 2012  joint winners for ‘Best CPE Solution’  were:-

Joint winner: UPC - Orion Webbox

Joint winner: Bridge Technologies - microC™ Viewer-Device Monitoring

‘Best digital processing solution’

The Society will give out its individual SCTE Technology Innovation Awards at its annual dinner (to be held this year on 23 March 2013 at Drapers’ Hall in London, UK). The 2012  winner and runner-up for ‘Best Digital Processing Solution’  were:-

Winner: ARRIS - Media Services Platform

Runner up: Harmonic Inc. - Pro Media Suite

The best overall submission receives the SCTE Technological Innovation of the Year Award.
