21712 - SCTE Broadband Nov2022 COMPLETE v1

12 Vol. 44 No. 4 - November 2022 Issue Besim Latifi has been busier than ever and has some great news for the SCTE. We caught up with him to see what’s happening on the ground in Kosovo and further afield too. scte balkans news I’m delighted to say the SCTE’s regional activities are going very well. We have made good progress with the Next Generation Network Institute in Kosovo. They have started their training programmes in cooperation with a few universities, and the interest of new generations for these training courses is very high, as well as for SCTE membership. As per the latest trends in technology, HFC has extended its lifecycle for a minimum of 15 years, with the new technology raising the capacity to 10G. In addition, new technology trends give new meaning to the integration of HFC into different platforms, such as FTTx. This situation occurs in different regions; a lot of colleges have stopped programmes on RF education, which created a big gap in the industry, and that is something that the SCTE can help with because there is clear demand from the market. At the same time, we are working with our friends Wananchi in Kenya to finalise the Ts & Cs regarding the new training contract. In other regions, there is significant interest and we are working with the SCTE team to develop a suitable format for local partners to deliver the SCTE training programme.
