4 Vol. 42 No. 4 - November 2020 Issue news from the scte New committee appointments for the SCTE For further details of SCTE sub-committee changes, please see www.thescte.eu/about-us/scte-structure Following its Executive Committee meeting on 28 October 2020 , the SCTE is pleased to confirm that Anthony Basham (Technetix) has been re-elected as President of the SCTE, as well as Vice Chair of the Training and Technical/Standards Committees. New appointments also include Rien Baan (formerly the SCTE Benelux Group Secretary), who becomes the new Vice President of the Society, and Les Hampson, who has been voted in as the SCTE’s Treasurer and chair of the SCTE’s Finance Committee. Following Rien Baan’s resignation on 1 November 2020 as Benelux Group Secretary (further details on page 14), Ruud Wielaard now becomes the new Benelux Secretary. The Society has also revised its subcommittee structures and confirmed the chairs and vice-chairs of its various committees – these can be found on the SCTE website at https://www.thescte.eu/about-us/scte-structure “Congratulations to Rien Baan, as SCTE Vice President, and Les Hampson, as newly elected SCTE Treasurer. We have benefited from Rien’s commitment to the SCTE over the last 17 years, particularly as SCTE Benelux Secretary,” commented Anthony Basham, SCTE President. “Our grateful thanks also to Mike Thornton and Paul Broadhurst for their years of service on the SCTE Executive Committee, which are greatly appreciated. A warm welcome is extended to Ruud Wielaard as the new SCTE Benelux Secretary. We were delighted with the high voting levels from SCTE members at our last AGM on 7 October 2020 and encourage all members to take part in Society activities,” he concluded. Melissa has two decades of experience in the UK film industry, most recently as a consultant. She is also a writer and editor with experience of creating innovative content and in-depth marketing plans. She founded and grew a membership organisation to promote Event Cinema, working with leading entertainment chains and international brands.
