89 Vol. 40 No. 3 - August 2018 Issue products Single or dual Teleste Remote PHY device (RPD) modules can be installed in AC9100 NEO to realize a Remote PHY node. Both modules meet CableLabs® specifications to allow interoperability with standards-based CCAP core implementations. The node will also support Teleste Remote MACPHY upgrade options, as and when they become available. “The node supports full DOCSIS® 3.1 downstream spectrum and upstream frequencies, and the Remote PHY module supports full spectrum downstream and upstream. The output amplifier stages are based on high-performance 1.2GHz GaN HEMT hybrids, which ensures the highest possible signal quality and high output levels,” added Teleste. AC9100 NEO is based on a fixed platform but responds to diverse requirements. The node supports up to four optical transmitters and dual power supplies. The two fixed optical receivers can act as two independent nodes or in 1+1 backup operation. The four independent return path inputs are connected to optical transmitters via an electrically configurable routing matrix which allows flexible back-up operation. AC9100 NEO can be equipped with a transponder module, which allows full remote monitoring and control of all node parameters. The transponder unit measures the forward and return path signal levels and enables automatic downstream and upstream alignment function. For more information, see www.teleste.com With the market introduction of a hybrid repeater, DELTA Electronics is closing a gap in the product portfolio in which it says 'an active optic-optical (O/O) and electro-optical (E/O) repeater has not yet been found in an outdoor housing’. With its hybrid repeater and the integration of a multi- diode receiver (MDR) into a compact die-cast housing of protection class IP65, DELTA Electronics is targeting markets and installation situations where no laboratory or headend ambience is provided e.g. for installations on masts or for installation in a street cabinet or in the basement of multi-family house complexes. “The multi diode receiver (MDR), in which overall fibre management is integrated, has been completely re-designed and can be clicked into the IP65 housing. According to the application, the appropriate MDR can be selected with 2-, 4-, 8- or 16 optical inputs so that up to 128 nodes or apartments can be connected to a hybrid repeater,” the SCTE corporate member told Broadband Journal. “With broadband expansion and expansion of the fibre optic network, HFC networks will be smaller in the future. The hybrid repeater (E/O) allows for this insofar as it can easily be retrofitted to a hybrid repeater (O/O) and thus can continue to be used in optical/optical networks. It is designed for a wide variety of applications and can be upgraded to future optical/ optical networks.” With its new concept for DOCSIS 3.1-based FTTx networks and the launch of the hybrid repeater with multi-diode receivers (MDR), DELTA Electronics is targeting the future requirements of the market and cable network operators. With the hybrid repeater (O/O), greenfield, as well as brownfield sites - with the hybrid repeater (E/O) - can be retrofitted for broadband expansion. Instead of extending the network by coax-based RF technology, a hybrid repeater E/O can be used to provide subscribers with high-speed internet access and CATV. “The fibres are connected to the MDR box via LC/APC connectors. The pluggable MDR can be exchanged for upgrades or service. This leads to a considerable reduction in service times in the event of an upgrade. Up to two pluggable optical downstream (DS) modules with an optical output power of 9dBm per transmitter increase the optical DS budget and enable the connection of up to 32 nodes without EDFA modules. This enables a very cost-effective network design. For the connection of up to 128 nodes, up to two EDFA modules can be used, optionally with 15 or 17dBm optical output power,” added the manufacturer.
